FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Steven Blakesley /
Melo Motorsports
Redding,
CA – Melo Motorsports completed a fantastic 2007 season of racing in
the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Westcar Late Models, and
NASCAR Grand National West with development driver Mackena Bell of
Carson City, NV and Redding’s Kyle Cattanach.
Cattanach and
Melo Motorsports impressed fans up and down the West Coast with a 14th
place finish at
Altamont
Motorsports
Park in the team’s NASCAR Grand National debut.
Cattanach, 22,
gained valuable experience in the team’s trip to Iowa Speedway,
which was backed by Toyota of Des Moines.
Returning back to
the West Coast, Cattanach scored a 13th place finish in
Roseberg, OR, which he followed up with a win in the Westcar Late
Model Series in July at Shasta Raceway Park.
The Dam Gamel 200
on September 15th was the highlight of the season for
Melo Motorsports, with Cattanach taking fourth in the 100 lap late
model event, and then racing forward from his 11th row
starting position to finish fourth in the 200 lap Grand National
event.
The pair of
fourth place finished in Dan Gamel-backed entries thrilled the many
Dan Gamel associates on hand.
In 2007, Bell ran
a full schedule in the Legends of the Pacific tour, one of the
premiere tours for Legends car racing. Bell finished third in this
touring series’ points standings.
It was an
exciting year for the 17 year-old driver, as she debuted the #58 Dan
Gamel RV Chevrolet at All American
Speedway
in Roseville, CA. Competing in the NASCAR-sanctioned Western Late
Models, Bell pulled in solid finishes of 12th and 9th.
Bell
also spent much of the year testing Late Models and Grand National
cars for Melo Motorsports.
Currently Bell is
competing in the Open Outlaw class at Red Bluff Outlaws in Red
Bluff, CA. She will be running the full winter series.
Melo Motorsports
would like to thank all its 2007 sponsors and will be announcing
2008 plans in the future.
Melo Motorsports
is sponsored by: Dan Gamel RV, Toyota, Toyota of Des Moines,
