Redding,
Calif.
– 23 year-old Kyle Cattanach of Redding, CA has announced plans to
compete in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East for Spraker
Racing Enterprises.
The season
will open at Greenville Pickens Speedway in Easley, SC on April 19.
His East Series debut will be sponsored by Dan Gamel RV and Pepper
Jack Kennels.
Cattanach will
be relocating to
Mooresville,
NC
to begin work in the shop one week before the event.
“I am very
excited about the opportunity that Spraker Racing has given me,”
Cattanach said. “I am very thankful to both Jeff and Sue Spraker.”
Michelle
Theriault occupied the #37 Spraker Racing Chevrolet in 2007. Spraker
Racing Enteprises also operates a team in the ARCA RE/MAX Series
with driver Dexter Bean.
Cattanach
brings a resume of success, with an 82% top-ten percentage for his
stock car career, to the highly competitive east series. A fourth
place finish at Altamont last year in the west series put him firmly
in position to pick up a ride for the 2008 season.
“We are
thrilled for Kyle and he deserves this chance,” Cattanach Racing
manager Marty Melo said. “We still have a lot of work to do as
we are still seeking additional sponsorship support.”
Cattanach
drove for Melo in three west series races in 2007.
Cattanach
spent several days in
North Carolina
last week, meeting with Jeff Spraker and the Spraker Racing team. On
Friday, Cattanach tested at Caraway Speedway and impressed the team
and owners
Spraker is
confident the team can be successful and believes Cattanach has all
the ingredients to be successful.
“Kyle has a
strong short-track background and this place should be a perfect
match for that experience,” Spraker said. “We hope to work with Kyle
at other East Series events in 2008 - having run this entire
schedule last year, we feel that Spraker Racing can offer a genuine
opportunity for Kyle to showcase his talent here on the east coast.”
Several
exciting sponsorship opportunities are available for this campaign
in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East. Series races will be
broadcast live on HDNET with tape-delay coverage on SPEED.
The East Series serves as NASCAR’s final step on the development
ladder before transitioning to the three national series.
Drivers such
as Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano, and Ricky Craven have graduated
from the series to move into the top-three series in NASCAR.
Many
supporters from the
Redding
area will be flying into South Carolina to watch Cattanach make his
debut on April 19.
Cattanach’s
entrance into the east series is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
for one of the top young drivers on the West Coast to represent his
hometown of Redding on the national stage.

sponsors and companies can show their support for their own “Spirit
of Redding” by contacting Steven Blakesley of Kyle Cattanach Racing
