Melo Motorsports gearing up for tough Altamont double-header

Redding, CA – Kyle Cattanach and Melo Motorsports will look to prevail over tough competition as they compete in both the NASCAR Late Model 100 and the NASCAR Grand National West Series Dan Gamel RV Centers 200 at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, CA on Saturday. 

Saturday’s NASCAR Grand National West Series event will crown the series champion as well as awarding the winner of the event an automatic starting berth in the prestigious NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.

Cattanach will compete in a Dan Gamel / Eldorado Hotel Casino-backed Toyota, and the team is eager to run well with both companies on hand.

In relation to sponsoring the event, Dan Gamel RV GM Scott Backstrom will be in attendance with more than 50 employees from several Dan Gamel RV Centers across Northern California.

Cattanach finished 14^th at Altamont in the West Series event in April. The team ran in the top-ten much of the race before tire problems spoiled a solid run.

In Saturday’s NASCAR Late Model 100, more than 30 of the best Late Model drivers will be competing as they search for crucial points in the State Championship battle.

Cattanach is searching for his 2^nd Late Model win of 2007.

“I know Kyle has the talent to put us up front,” Team Owner Marty Melo said. “A lot of work has gone into preparing both cars and we are looking forward to having a good showing.”

This weekend’s events kick off a busy fall schedule for Melo Motorsports, with five consecutive weeks of action. Cattanach will compete at at least three different tracks in the next four races.

Melo Motorsports development driver Mackena Bell will be in Late Model action in two weeks in Roseville, CA.

Saturday night’s racing at Altamont Motorsports Park kicks off at 2:30 p.m. with time trials. The Late Model feature rolls off at 5 p.m. with the Dan Gamel RV Centers 200 taking the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
