FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Steven
Blakesley / Melo Motorsports
Redding,
CA – 22 year-old Kyle Cattanach of Redding, CA, and Melo Motorsports,
will compete in at least five more races this season, team owner
Marty Melo announced late last week.
Cattanach will
compete in Dan Gamel-sponsored entries in both the NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series Western Late Model 100 and the NASCAR Grand
National West Series 100 coming up on September 15th at
Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, CA.
Cattanach
finished 14th in the team’s first Grand National
appearance at the half-mile asphalt oval in April.
The following
weekend, Cattanach will run an Eldorado Hotel Casino-backed
Chevrolet at Ukiah Speedway in the Eldorado Westcar Late Model
Series. The start will be Cattanach’s third in the series in 2007.
He won the series event at Shasta Raceway in July.
Cattanach will
make his return to Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, CA on October 6th
and 7th, as he chases the historic Win-River 125 for
Super Late Models. Cattanach, a two-time Pro Stock champion at
Shasta, has yet to find victory in the most well-known race in the
North
State.
Cattanach will
team up with Mackena Bell in a two-car effort for Melo Motorsports
at Altamont, competing in the Norcal Nationals Late Model event. The
event runs from October 12th-14th and includes
a 125 lap main event on Sunday afternoon.
Melo Motorsports
and Kyle Cattanach are currently in their second year together.
Cattanach has maintained an 82% top-ten percentage throughout his
stockcar career, and is considered on several websites as a future
NASCAR Busch Series driver.
The team is also
looking for additional funding to compete in one more event in the
2007 season.
